Cristiano Ronaldo has rejoined his Al Nassr teammates for the first time since Portugal’s exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has yet to return to full training with the Saudi Pro League champions.
Al Nassr wrapped up their pre-season training camp in Lisbon on Tuesday with a 2-0 defeat to Spanish side Almeria in their final friendly ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Al Nassr shared a video on social media showing Ronaldo warmly greeting his teammates and newly appointed head coach Ange Postecoglou ahead of the match. Although the Portuguese captain was present for the game, he did not feature, remaining the only Al Nassr player yet to return to full training following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
It marked Ronaldo’s first reunion with the squad since Portugal’s round-of-16 exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they were beaten 1-0 by Spain on July 6.
The 41-year-old is also reportedly set to marry his long-time partner, Georgina Rodriguez, this Saturday in Madeira, Portugal.
Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in January 2023 and played a pivotal role in ending the club’s seven-year wait for the Saudi Pro League title last season. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has also finished as the league’s top scorer in each of the past two campaigns.
Meanwhile, Al Nassr wrapped up their overseas pre-season camp on a disappointing note, suffering a 2-0 defeat to Spanish side Almeria.
The teams went into halftime level at 0-0, but Almeria took control after the break. The Spanish side broke the deadlock in the 51st minute when one of their forwards raced through on goal and beat Brazilian goalkeeper Bento. They doubled their advantage around 10 minutes later from the penalty spot.
Head coach Ange Postecoglou named a mixed starting XI, blending first-team regulars with squad players, before making several changes after the interval in an attempt to spark a comeback. Despite the substitutions, Al Nassr struggled to respond and ended their Lisbon training camp with defeat.
