UAE forecasts rain, fog and dusty conditions in the coming days

Date:

Showers forecast in eastern and southern UAE as humidity and dust continue into Monday.

Abu Dhabi: The UAE is expected to experience unsettled weather over the next few days, with the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasting showers in parts of the east and south, along with humid nights, early morning fog and occasional dusty conditions.

According to the NCM, Friday will be partly cloudy to cloudy at times, with convective clouds developing over eastern and southern regions, bringing a chance of rain. Humidity levels are expected to rise overnight and into Saturday morning, increasing the likelihood of fog or mist forming over parts of the western coastal areas.

Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds, blowing at 10–25km/h and gusting up to 40km/h, are expected to strengthen at times, raising dust and reducing visibility in exposed areas. Sea conditions will be slight to moderate in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

Despite the chance of showers, temperatures will remain high across the UAE. The NCM forecasts highs of 48°C in Liwa, 46°C in Al Ain, 44°C in Dubai and Sharjah, and 43°C in Abu Dhabi, while Fujairah is expected to see a high of 36°C, with humidity levels rising to 85 per cent.

The unsettled weather pattern is expected to persist through the weekend. On Saturday, skies will remain partly cloudy, with convective clouds likely to develop over eastern and southern areas, bringing another chance of rain. Humid conditions are also forecast to continue overnight and into Sunday morning.

By Sunday, the NCM forecasts generally fair to partly cloudy skies across much of the UAE, though convective clouds could continue to form over eastern and southern areas. Winds are expected to shift gradually from southeasterly to northwesterly, blowing at 10–25km/h with gusts of up to 35km/h.

On Monday, temperatures are likely to edge higher under partly cloudy to cloudy skies, while light to moderate northwesterly winds will persist. Sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea throughout the four-day forecast period.
