UAE weather: Temperatures to hit 47°C as rain clouds gather over eastern and southern regions.

Date:

Showers possible through Saturday as developing clouds and dusty winds affect parts of the UAE.

Dubai: The UAE is set to experience another round of intense summer heat on Wednesday, with temperatures expected to climb to 47°C in some areas, while convective clouds may bring chances of rain across eastern and southern parts of the country.

The National Centre of Meteorology said skies will be partly cloudy at times, with temperatures continuing to rise and the possibility of rainfall from developing cloud formations.

Winds are expected to remain light to moderate, occasionally strengthening and carrying dust, particularly over southern areas. Southeasterly to northeasterly winds will blow at speeds of 10 to 25 kilometres per hour, with gusts reaching up to 40km/h.

Ras Al Khaimah and Liwa are expected to record the UAE’s highest temperatures at 47°C, while Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain and Al Ain are forecast to reach 45°C.

Temperatures are expected to peak at 42°C in Ajman, Al Ruwais and Al Sila, 41°C in Dalma, and 39°C in Fujairah.

Humidity levels could rise to 85 per cent in several coastal and island areas, including Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah, Al Ruwais, Al Sila and Dalma. Overnight temperatures are expected to range between 27°C in Liwa and 33°C in Fujairah.

Conditions in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman are expected to remain slight to moderate. In the Arabian Gulf, the first high tide is forecast at 3.10pm and the second at 1.29am, while low tides are expected at 8.14am and 7.13pm. In the Sea of Oman, high tides are predicted at 10.49am and 10.01pm, with low tides at 4.41pm and 4.45am.

Unsettled weather is expected to continue on Thursday, with convective clouds likely to develop again over eastern and southern areas, bringing chances of rainfall. Winds may reach speeds of up to 40km/h, causing dust to rise in exposed locations, while sea conditions remain slight to moderate.

Friday is expected to remain partly cloudy at times, with further convective cloud formation possible in eastern and southern regions. Winds could reach 35km/h, with marine conditions staying slight to moderate.

By Saturday, conditions are forecast to turn generally fair to partly cloudy. However, some clouds forming over eastern and southern areas may still develop into convective clouds. Humidity is expected to increase overnight and into Sunday morning in some coastal areas, while seas remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
