Light rain brought cooler conditions to Fujairah and Khor Fakkan as seasonal clouds gathered over the Hajar Mountains.

Dubai: Residents along the UAE’s eastern coast woke up to refreshing showers on Friday, as rain swept through parts of Fujairah and Khor Fakkan, bringing cooler conditions and misty mountain views despite a generally fair weather forecast.
Light to occasionally moderate rain fell in areas near the Hajar Mountains, creating autumn-like scenes along the eastern coastline, with low clouds and cooler temperatures replacing the usual summer heat.
The rainfall occurred despite the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) forecasting generally clear skies across the UAE, with only low clouds expected over the eastern coast and higher temperatures inland.
The showers were associated with the seasonal formation of Al Marawih convective clouds over the Hajar Mountains, a recurring summer weather pattern caused by moist air moving inland from the Sea of Oman.
As humid air is pushed upward by the mountains, it cools and forms tall cumulonimbus clouds that can produce thunderstorms and localized rainfall.
Al Marawih clouds were expected to become active over the Hajar Mountains and nearby border areas in the afternoon, with a possibility of isolated thundery showers.
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) said winds would stay light to moderate, occasionally becoming fresh, while sea conditions in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman were expected to remain slight.
