The move reflects strong UAE–Philippines relations and growing people-to-people ties.
Dubai: The UAE will introduce a visa-on-arrival facility for eligible Filipino passport holders starting tomorrow, June 25, according to the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
The move is expected to ease travel procedures for thousands of frequent visitors and residents.
Eligibility criteria:
Under the new arrangement, Filipino citizens travelling on Philippine passports may be eligible for visa-on-arrival if they hold valid visas, residence permits, or Green Cards issued by the United States, European Union member states, Australia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Canada, or New Zealand.
The rule applies only to travellers who already hold one of these approved documents at the time of entry.
How the process works:
Eligible passengers must present their Philippine passport along with a valid visa or residency permit upon arrival at UAE entry points. Immigration authorities will then issue the visa on arrival, subject to standard checks and approval at the border.
Visa options and fees:
Travellers can choose between two options under the new system. A 14-day visa costs Dh100 and can be extended once for another 14 days for Dh250.
Alternatively, a 60-day visa is available for Dh250 and is not extendable under any circumstances.
Strengthening UAE–Philippines ties:
The move is supported by strong economic cooperation and the large Filipino community in the UAE.
“The visa-on-arrival privilege extended to Filipino citizens by the UAE reflects the excellent bilateral relations between the Philippines and the UAE,” said the DFA.
