Pilgrims were also advised to follow preventive measures such as maintaining personal hygiene and wearing masks in crowded areas.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) is stressing the importance of health preparedness and preventive measures for UAE pilgrims ahead of the Hajj season 2026.

The Ministry emphasized the need for early health preparation to ensure pilgrims can perform Hajj rituals safely and comfortably in line with approved health guidelines. This includes adhering to preventive measures, receiving the required vaccinations, and following medical advice before and during travel.

These efforts reflect the UAE’s proactive approach to public health and preventive care, as well as its ongoing coordination to ensure the health and wellbeing of UAE pilgrims throughout their Hajj journey.

Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention, said the UAE follows a proactive approach to building an advanced preventive healthcare model that goes beyond service delivery, focusing instead on strengthening readiness and promoting awareness to support informed health decisions.

Al Sayegh noted that coordination between national entities enhances response efficiency and ensures integrated roles to provide the best possible health environment for UAE pilgrims. He added that these efforts further reinforce the UAE’s position in developing impactful and forward-looking health programmes based on early planning and sustainable preparedness.

Vaccination is essential

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) stressed the importance of receiving mandatory vaccinations before travel, particularly the meningococcal vaccine, along with other recommended vaccines in line with approved medical guidelines. These measures are intended to reduce the risk of infectious diseases and ensure a safer and more comfortable Hajj journey.

The Ministry and health authorities urged pilgrims to visit healthcare centres well in advance for required medical check-ups to confirm their fitness for Hajj rituals, especially for older adults, people with chronic illnesses, and pregnant women.

Pilgrims were also advised to follow preventive measures during Hajj, including maintaining personal hygiene, wearing masks in crowded areas, staying hydrated, and avoiding direct exposure to sunlight to reduce the risk of heat exhaustion.

Additional guidance was issued for individuals with chronic conditions, advising them to carry sufficient medication and medical reports and to adhere strictly to prescribed treatment plans to safeguard their health throughout the pilgrimage.

Health guidance and awareness updates will continue to be shared through official communication channels, including digital platforms, websites, smart applications, and SMS messages, to ensure pilgrims receive accurate and timely information throughout the Hajj season.
