UAE Residents Can Return Without Residency Permit Amid Airspace Disruptions

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has announced a temporary measure allowing residents outside the UAE with expired residency permits to return without applying for a new entry permit.

The decision is aimed at residents affected by flight cancellations or airspace closures due to the ongoing regional situation. The measure will be in effect from Saturday, February 28, 2026, until Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

An official statement from ICP said:

“The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security will allow residents who are currently outside of the country and whose residency permits have expired to return to the UAE, after current conditions in the region prevented their return due to airspace closures or the suspension of flights. The decision will remain valid for one month without the need to apply for a new entry permit.”

Flight operations update:

  • Dubai International Airport continues to operate on a limited schedule.
  • Emirates is flying to 110 destinations with plans to resume full operations soon.
  • Flydubai, the Dubai-based airline, is also operating a reduced schedule, with select flights going ahead.

Residents affected by travel disruptions are encouraged to check airline schedules and follow official updates before planning their return.
