Major European airline prolongs Dubai flight cancellations — what travellers should know

Date:

One of Europe’s leading low-cost airlines has temporarily suspended all flights to and from Dubai..

Transavia has announced the cancellation of all services to and from Dubai International Airport, effective until Sunday, March 8.

The Dutch budget airline, a subsidiary of KLM and part of the Air France-KLM Group, cited the ongoing geopolitical situation in the Gulf region as the reason for halting this key route.

Initially, Transavia had planned to resume flights on Wednesday, February 11, while monitoring developments in the region. However, the suspension has now been extended through March 8.

The airline’s main hub is at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, with additional hubs across Dutch cities and three bases in France.

Passengers booked on affected flights will be notified via SMS and email if their flights are cancelled.

In a statement on Thursday, February 12, Transavia emphasized that “the safety of our passengers and crew is always our top priority.”

DXB Flight Cancellations in 2026

Transavia’s announcement comes after several European carriers temporarily suspended flights to the region as a precaution.

  • KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, operating from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, cancelled multiple flights to Dubai International Airport at the end of January, though daytime services have now resumed.
  • Air France briefly suspended flights to DXB but restarted operations on Saturday, January 24.
  • Emirates recently cancelled several flights to US destinations—including New York, Washington DC, Boston, Dallas, and Newark—due to Storm Fern.

Passengers affected by Transavia’s ongoing cancellations can:

  1. Request a refund for their ticket.
  2. Rebook the flight for a later date.
  3. Switch to an alternative destination at no extra cost, provided the new flight is within 14 days of the original booking.
