Crown Prince urges people to remember those who sacrificed their lives to defend the UAE flag.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces in his address to his social media followers on the occasion of UAE Flag Day said “we remember the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to defend their flag”.

“The UAE flag is, and will always remain, a symbol of peace and progress. On Flag Day, we remember the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to defend their flag, and we remind ourselves of the UAE’s determination to be at the forefront of development,” said the Crown Prince in his Twitter post.

The day is marked annually on November 3 to consolidate national identity and enhance unity. The day was first marked in 2013 based on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The day also marks the accession anniversary of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

This year’s celebrations will be hosted in socially distanced settings as a precautionary measure against the spread of Covid-19.
