UAE weather update: Temperatures to hit 48°C with rain and strong winds forecast

Date:

Convective clouds developing over the eastern mountains are expected to bring showers and gusty winds, along with blowing dust.

Dubai: The UAE is set for another day of unsettled summer weather, with the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasting rain across eastern and some inland areas as convective clouds move beyond the mountains. The weather is also expected to bring fresh to strong winds and blowing dust.

The NCM said conditions will remain fair to partly cloudy in most parts of the country, while convective clouds developing over eastern regions are likely to spread into some inland areas, resulting in daytime rainfall. The weather pattern is linked to an extension of a surface low-pressure system from the east, supported by an upper-level low-pressure system.

Temperatures are expected to climb to 43°C–48°C in inland areas, while coastal areas and islands will see highs of 37°C–42°C. Mountain regions are forecast to remain cooler, with temperatures ranging between 31°C and 37°C.

Winds will be light to moderate for most of the day but may strengthen at times, reaching speeds of up to 45 km/h in inland and mountainous areas. These stronger winds could stir up dust and sand, reducing visibility in exposed locations.

Sea conditions are expected to remain calm, with slight waves in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

The unstable weather pattern is expected to continue in the coming days, with the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasting further convective cloud formation across eastern and southern parts of the UAE through Saturday, bringing additional possibilities of rain.

Temperatures are likely to rise slightly from Thursday, while winds may strengthen at times. Sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
