NCM forecasts afternoon showers in eastern and southern UAE as temperatures rise.
Dubai: Temperatures could climb to 49°C in parts of the UAE on Thursday, with the country set for a combination of scorching heat, possible afternoon showers and increased overnight humidity, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The NCM forecast fair to partly cloudy conditions, with convective clouds likely to form over eastern and southern areas during the afternoon, bringing a chance of rain. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach 44°C to 49°C in internal areas and 40°C to 46°C along the coast and islands.
Humidity is expected to rise overnight and into Friday morning in some coastal areas, potentially leading to mist formation.
Winds will be light to moderate, occasionally becoming fresh, with speeds of 10 to 20kph and gusts reaching 35kph. Sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
The unsettled weather could continue into the coming days. Friday is expected to be fair to partly cloudy, before clouds increase over northern and eastern areas overnight and into Saturday morning, bringing a chance of light rain.
Saturday will remain generally fair to partly cloudy, while cloud cover is forecast to increase again over some northern and eastern areas on Sunday, with further light rainfall possible.
On Monday, conditions are expected to be fair to partly cloudy at times, with clouds developing eastward during the afternoon and potentially becoming convective.
Humidity is likely to rise overnight and into Tuesday morning over some coastal areas. Winds will be light to moderate, blowing from the south-east to north-east at 10 to 20kph and reaching up to 30kph. Seas are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
