Dubai: Temperatures could climb to 50°C in parts of the UAE on Wednesday, while more rain is expected over eastern and southern areas following summer showers in parts of the country a day earlier.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecast fair to partly cloudy skies, with convective clouds developing over eastern and southern areas during the afternoon and bringing a chance of rainfall.

Inland areas are expected to record the highest temperatures, ranging between 45°C and 50°C, while temperatures along the coast and on the islands will range from 39°C to 45°C. In the mountains, temperatures are forecast to remain between 33°C and 39°C.

Winds are expected to be light to moderate, occasionally strengthening and stirring up dust, particularly in inland and mountainous areas. Wind speeds could reach 40 km/h inland and in the mountains, while coastal areas could see speeds of up to 35 km/h.

Humidity is expected to rise overnight and into Thursday morning in some coastal areas, increasing the chance of mist. Seas will remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

The NCM expects temperatures to fall on Thursday, although winds of up to 40 km/h could stir up dust in western areas. The Arabian Gulf may also turn rough at times, particularly in the west.

The chance of afternoon convective clouds over eastern areas will continue through Friday and Saturday, with winds reaching up to 35 km/h. Conditions are expected to remain fair to partly cloudy on Sunday.
