UAE weather: Heat to reach 49°C on Monday as rain chances return from Tuesday

Date:

Inland temperatures could soar to 49°C on Monday as strong winds raise dust and reduce visibility.

Dubai: Temperatures could climb to 49°C in inland parts of the UAE on Monday, accompanied by dusty winds and rising humidity, before a shift towards more unsettled weather brings rain chances and cooler conditions from Tuesday.

The National Centre of Meteorology expects fair to partly cloudy skies on Monday, with light to moderate winds strengthening at times and reaching up to 40 km/h in inland areas. The stronger winds could stir up dust and reduce visibility, while sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.

Inland areas are expected to see temperatures ranging from 44°C to 49°C, while coastal areas and islands could reach 40°C to 45°C. Mountain regions are forecast to be cooler, with temperatures between 30°C and 37°C.

Humidity is expected to rise overnight and into Tuesday morning, increasing the possibility of fog or mist in some coastal and inland areas.

Weather conditions are likely to become more unsettled from Tuesday, when convective clouds could develop over eastern parts of the UAE during the afternoon, bringing a chance of rain. Temperatures are also forecast to ease, particularly in western areas.

Winds could again reach 40 km/h, with the Arabian Gulf expected to turn rough at times in western waters, while conditions in the Oman Sea should remain slight.

The chance of rain will continue into Wednesday, when convective clouds could develop over eastern areas during the afternoon. Rising overnight humidity may lead to mist in some coastal and inland locations, while fresh winds could stir up dust in western parts of the country.

Temperatures are forecast to fall further on Thursday, with rain-bearing clouds potentially developing over eastern parts of the UAE. Fog or mist could form overnight into Friday morning, while winds may reach 40 km/h.

By Friday, conditions are expected to remain fair to partly cloudy and hazy at times. Convective clouds could again develop over eastern areas during the afternoon, bringing another chance of rainfall.
