UAE Weather Alert: Gusty winds, dust, and light rain expected

Date:

Sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf are forecasted to be rough, occasionally reaching very rough levels.

Abu Dhabi: Temperatures are expected to dip slightly across the UAE on Monday, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies prevailing. Strong winds are likely to raise dust and generate rough sea conditions, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported.

The NCM noted that the country will be influenced by an extension of a surface low-pressure system from the east, combined with a high-pressure system from the west and an upper-air high-pressure extension.

On Monday, conditions are expected to be partly cloudy at times, with moderate to strong northwesterly to southwesterly winds blowing at 15–30 km/h, gusting up to 45 km/h, especially along coastal areas. These winds may occasionally reduce visibility due to blowing dust and sand.

Temperatures are forecasted to range from 27°C to 32°C in coastal and island areas, with nighttime lows between 17°C and 22°C. Inland regions are expected to see highs of 30°C to 35°C and lows of 14°C to 19°C, while mountainous areas could experience daytime temperatures of 17°C to 22°C, dropping to 11°C–16°C overnight.

Sea conditions are expected to be rough to very rough at times in the Arabian Gulf, while the Oman Sea will remain rough.

Looking ahead, Tuesday is expected to be fair to partly cloudy, with strong northwesterly winds reaching up to 50 km/h over the sea, stirring dust and reducing horizontal visibility. Rough seas will continue in the Arabian Gulf, with rough conditions also expected in the Oman Sea.

On Wednesday, similar fair to partly cloudy conditions are forecast, becoming cloudier by night. Winds will remain moderate to strong, reaching up to 45 km/h, with rough to moderate sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and rough seas in the Oman Sea.

Rainfall may return on Thursday and Friday, with the NCM predicting partly cloudy to cloudy skies and a chance of light rain over some coastal, western, eastern, and inland areas. Winds are expected to remain light to moderate, while sea conditions gradually improve, becoming moderate and then slight by Friday.
