UAE steps up training to improve management of government assets

Federal staff to receive training in AI, risk and modern asset management standards.

Dubai: Federal government employees in the UAE are set to receive specialised training in artificial intelligence, risk management, asset lifecycle planning and international asset management standards under a new programme launched by the Ministry of Finance.

The Ministry of Finance has signed a strategic partnership with the Asset Management Academy and Turner & Townsend International Ltd. to provide Institute of Asset Management training programmes and certifications across federal government entities.

The initiative aims to strengthen how government assets are planned, managed and evaluated throughout their lifecycle, while equipping national talent with practical skills to support better decision-making and performance management.

AI and risk management included

The training will cover a broad range of asset management areas, including lifecycle planning, risk management, performance improvement, artificial intelligence, strategic planning and ways to maximise the long-term, sustainable value of government assets.

The programme will align with international standards, including the ISO 55000 series, and will be delivered through in-person, remote and hybrid formats based on the needs of individual federal entities.

Graeme Baxter, Country Manager in the UAE, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening national asset management capabilities through IAM programmes and certifications, while bringing international expertise and best practices to federal entities.

The Ministry of Finance said the initiative will help government entities adopt internationally recognised asset management practices while developing the professional skills needed to use data and advanced technologies in planning and decision-making.

Mariam Mohammed Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Government Financial Management Sector at the Ministry of Finance, said the programme forms part of efforts to strengthen government financial management and help federal entities adopt global practices and standards.

She added that developing specialised national capabilities would support more efficient asset lifecycle management and contribute to stronger institutional performance.

Focus on global certifications

The agreement will give participants access to IAM training programmes and certifications based on internationally recognised asset management practices and standards.

The programme is also designed to help participants apply modern asset management approaches to planning, risk assessment and decision-making across federal government entities.

The agreement was signed at the Ministry of Finance’s offices in Dubai by Younis Haji AlKhoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, and Baxter, in the presence of ministry officials and asset management specialists.
