UAE returns Dh1.19 billion to victims between 2021 and 2025 through financial crime enforcement.

Abu Dhabi: The UAE returned Dh1.19 billion to victims between 2021 and 2025 as part of its efforts to combat money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing, according to the General Secretariat of the Higher Committee Overseeing the National Strategy on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing.
The committee said the amount demonstrated the tangible financial impact of the UAE’s enforcement efforts, showing how legal and institutional measures had translated into direct financial recovery for victims.
The committee said the recovery of funds highlights the importance of going beyond investigations and procedural measures to deliver tangible outcomes, particularly by returning money to those legally entitled to it.
The committee said protecting victims’ rights remains a central part of the UAE’s approach, with asset recovery efforts focused on returning illicitly obtained or misappropriated funds to their rightful owners.
It said the Dh1.19 billion recovered between 2021 and 2025 demonstrates the effectiveness of the UAE’s broader framework for combating money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing, while highlighting the government’s focus on delivering measurable outcomes for victims.
