Dubai: The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA Dubai) has outlined the eligibility requirements for its visa-on-arrival service available to qualified foreign residents residing outside their countries of citizenship.
Under the scheme, eligible travellers can receive either a 14-day or 60-day visa on arrival, provided they meet the specified criteria. The 14-day visa may be extended once for an additional 14 days, while the 60-day visa is non-renewable.
Nationals of India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya, and South Africa, along with their accompanying family members, are eligible to benefit from the programme, provided they hold an ordinary passport and fulfil the required conditions.
GDRFA Dubai said applicants must provide a recent colour photograph with a white background, a passport valid for at least six months, and a valid residence permit issued by one of the approved countries.
The authority clarified that eligible residence permits for the visa-on-arrival service must be issued by the United States, United Kingdom, a European Union member state, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, or Singapore.
Applicants can complete the process through GDRFA Dubai’s digital channels by accessing the smart services system, selecting the relevant service, entering the required information, and completing the payment. Once approved, the visa will be sent to the applicant’s registered email address.
The visa-on-arrival fee is Dh172.50 for a 14-day visa and Dh422.50 for a 60-day visa.
GDRFA Dubai said the service aims to simplify entry procedures for eligible travellers while maintaining compliance with UAE residency and immigration regulations. Applications are processed within 48 hours through the authority’s official digital platforms.

GDRFA Dubai said the initiative aligns with the UAE’s efforts to improve travel convenience, attract more visitors, and further support tourism growth.
The service has recorded strong demand, with 73,551 visas issued in the first half of 2026, reflecting growing interest among eligible expatriates residing outside their home countries.
