UAE Offers Free Medical Assistance to Travelers Affected by Airspace Disruptions

Date:

Pakistan Medical Center (PMC) is offering free medical support, consultations, and medications to travelers impacted by airspace closures.

With thousands of tourists and visitors stranded due to airspace closures, several healthcare organizations and community groups have stepped in to provide medical assistance. Some are offering free consultations, while others are supplying emergency medications and tests.

The Pakistan Medical Center (PMC), located at the Pakistan Association in Umm Hurair, is providing free medical support to passengers affected by the recent airspace closures.

Dr. Nasim Sabir, Medical Director of PMC, confirmed that the center is welcoming all travelers in need of medical care. “Some patients may have chronic conditions and lack access to their medications, while others might be dealing with seasonal flu,” Dr. Sabir said. “They can visit PMC, where both acute and chronic health issues can be addressed. We offer 37 specialties, and the center is open daily from 8:30 am to 9:30 pm.”

The Pakistan Medical Center (PMC) has set aside a special fund to cover all treatment costs for stranded travelers. Patients can receive free consultations, blood tests, X-rays, ultrasounds, and minor procedures. While the center will not provide months’ worth of medication, it will supply enough acute or chronic medicine to cover a patient’s extended stay in Dubai.

First inaugurated in 2020, PMC was described by Dr. Nasim Sabir as a “gift” to the UAE community. He noted that the center is supported by the government and the Dubai Health Authority and hosts 62 volunteer doctors from leading UAE hospitals. “It’s a great example of tolerance and community service,” he said.

Healthcare organizations stepping in

Beyond community efforts, healthcare organizations have also provided free or discounted services to stranded passengers. The Thumbay Healthcare Group has offered guidance and assistance for urgent medical concerns. In a social media post, the group confirmed its support during the ongoing situation.

Thumbay Moideen, founder and president of the group, explained their motivation: “In times of uncertainty, healthcare must remain a constant source of reassurance. The UAE has always shown resilience, compassion, and preparedness in protecting the wellbeing of residents and visitors alike. At Thumbay Healthcare, our teams stand ready to support any tourist in need, ensuring that no one feels alone when it comes to health and safety. Our commitment is simple: to care, assist, and serve whenever help is needed.”

Additionally, Aster DM Healthcare has launched free online mental well-being video consultations through the myAster app, available until Friday. Residents and tourists can book confidential sessions with licensed psychologists from home, with the service accessible across the UAE.
