UAE Hiring Picks Up in September: Which Industries Are Recruiting?

Date:

Recruiters Expect UAE Companies to Ramp Up Hiring for the Final Quarter.

Dubai: September marks a shift in the UAE jobs market as companies return to full operating capacity, revisit vacancies placed on hold over the summer and prepare their teams for the final quarter of the year.

For jobseekers, the seasonal reset can bring more opportunities. However, recruiters say simply being available is unlikely to be enough to secure a role.

Employers are increasingly seeking candidates who can clearly demonstrate the value they can bring to a business — whether by improving efficiency, driving revenue, enhancing customer experience or helping organisations adapt to new technologies.

Hospitality hiring picks up

Hospitality is among the sectors expected to see a noticeable rebound in recruitment as companies move into the post-summer period.

Sean Delfin, Cluster Talent Acquisition Executive for hotel properties, said September is typically when hiring in the hospitality sector “switches back on” after the seasonal summer slowdown.

Hotels begin preparing for the final quarter as they anticipate higher occupancy, an increase in tourist arrivals and a busier events calendar.

“Hotels typically focus on strengthening guest-facing operational roles, including front office, concierge, F&B service and housekeeping,” Delfin told [publication].

He said recruitment becomes more urgent in September, as hotels across the UAE compete for the same pool of qualified talent.

“Hotels prioritise talent with fast onboarding readiness and prior UAE or GCC experience, enabling them to perform with minimal training or supervision.”

For candidates, strong customer service skills, familiarity with hotel systems and bilingual or multilingual communication can therefore provide an advantage.

Technology and AI

Technology is another area where recruiters expect hiring demand to remain strong, but the skills sought are no longer limited to traditional technology roles.

J Formanes, Managing Partner and Principal Consultant at People Bureau International, said companies are increasingly looking beyond the skills they need immediately and considering the capabilities they will require in the future.

“Recruitment activities will increase but will be more demanding in terms of talent search criteria, capabilities and transferable skills due to rapid automation and the need for transformation,” said Formanes.

He identified technology, data and artificial intelligence (AI), as well as cybersecurity, among the areas where demand is expected to remain strong.

Finance and fintech

According to Katrina Cariño, HR Manager in the food services industry, financial services are also among the sectors expected to see stronger hiring activity as recruitment picks up in the UAE.

Similarly, Formanes identified finance and fintech among the areas where demand is expected to remain strong. His outlook also points to a broader shift in the skills employers are seeking as roles continue to evolve.

For candidates, functional expertise remains important, but recruiters are increasingly looking for professionals who can combine technical knowledge with skills that support business transformation and changing organisational needs.

Healthcare needs practitioners and specialists

Healthcare is another sector recruiters have identified as an area where demand for talent is expected to remain strong, particularly for qualified practitioners and specialised professionals.

“We see roles in healthcare such as nurses, specialists, carers and support staff, as well as opportunities in engineering, real estate, project management, business development and digital marketing,” said Formanes.

He added: “We foresee that the question of hiring would not just include the skills of staff needed now, since jobs are simultaneously changing by design, but the capabilities that shall be needed in the future.”

Logistics and supply chain

Logistics and supply chain professionals could also see more opportunities as companies prepare for the final quarter.

Cariño pointed to stronger hiring activity in logistics and supply chain, along with retail, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and food services.

“In sectors such as FMCG, food service and distribution, the final quarter is particularly important because of increased business activity and seasonal demand. Hiring tends to focus on sales, operations, supply chain, finance, technology and specialist roles that directly support business growth and efficiency,” explained Cariño.

Real estate, engineering and project management

Real estate and property management are also among the areas where recruiters expect continued demand.

“Real estate and property management, construction, events and exhibitions, hospitality and tourism will also see an increase in business activity during this period, although it will not be as much as in previous years,” said Formanes.

The types of roles businesses are seeking are also evolving as employers respond to automation, productivity demands and the need to strengthen their position in an increasingly competitive global market.

Employers are becoming more selective

Across sectors, recruiters say companies are becoming increasingly selective in their hiring decisions. Cariño stressed that employers are not simply looking to increase headcount, but want candidates who can demonstrate a clear contribution to the business.

“They want people who can demonstrate that they can contribute to revenue, efficiency, customer experience or operational improvement,” said Cariño.

She added that employers are increasingly seeking a combination of functional expertise, business acumen and digital skills.

“Communication, adaptability, problem-solving, stakeholder management, commercial awareness and the ability to work across cultures remain critical, particularly in the UAE’s highly diverse workforce.”

Your CV should show what you achieved

For jobseekers hoping to take advantage of increased hiring activity in September, recruiters say how experience is presented can make a significant difference.

Cariño advised candidates to go beyond simply listing their responsibilities and instead highlight the impact they have made in previous roles.

This could include revenue generated, costs reduced, teams built, processes improved, targets exceeded or projects successfully delivered.

She also advised jobseekers to be strategic in their search by understanding the role, researching the company and tailoring each application to the position.

“In a competitive market, a candidate who can clearly articulate ‘this is the problem I can solve for your business’ will always stand out,” said Cariño.

Show your personality

For hospitality applicants, Delfin said preparation and communication are particularly important during the hiring process.

Candidates should remain authentic and allow their personality to come through during interviews. He also encouraged applicants to listen carefully and communicate their thoughts clearly and confidently.

“Perfect English isn’t required, but expressing your thoughts confidently and coherently is essential,” said Delfin.

Candidates should research the company, understand its brand and arrive at the interview with a clear sense of their professional goals. This can help interviewers understand where the candidate wants to go in their career and how the organisation could support that path.

Preparation matters

For jobseekers, the return from the summer period could open a fresh window of opportunity across several UAE industries.

Hospitality is preparing for increased guest demand, while technology and AI remain key as businesses automate and transform their operations. Finance and fintech continue to evolve, with healthcare, logistics, supply chain, real estate, engineering and other sectors also expected to seek new talent.

Across these industries, employers are looking for candidates who understand their business, can demonstrate measurable results and have the ability to adapt as roles continue to change.

For those preparing to apply, recruiters say the focus should go beyond simply identifying which industries are hiring. Instead, candidates should consider the problems businesses need to solve — and demonstrate clearly how their skills and experience can help solve them.
