Monthly fuel price changes directly affect UAE household budgets, with petrol and diesel remaining essential recurring expenses.

The UAE has announced petrol and diesel prices for October 2026, with motorists set to pay more at the pump from October 1.
Fuel prices had increased slightly in September following a rise in August. July, however, brought some relief for motorists, with prices falling after four consecutive months of increases amid the impact of the regional conflict.
The new fuel prices, effective October 1, 2026, are:
- Super 98: Dh4.40 per litre, up from Dh3.80 in September
- Special 95: Dh4.28 per litre, up from Dh3.69
- E-Plus 91: Dh4.21 per litre, up from Dh3.61
- Diesel: Dh4.80 per litre, up from Dh4.30 in September
The latest adjustment means motorists will face higher refuelling costs in October across all major petrol grades as well as diesel.
Since the Middle East conflict began on February 28, retail fuel prices in the UAE have risen sharply, climbing by more than 60 per cent at their peak. Prices declined in July before moving higher again in August and September.
The latest increase comes against a backdrop of renewed regional uncertainty. The 60-day ceasefire between the US and Iran has expired, with Washington indicating it does not intend to extend the agreement, while Tehran has warned of further escalation. At the same time, the Houthis have intensified attacks on oil infrastructure in the Red Sea.
These developments have kept energy markets in focus, with regional tensions continuing to influence concerns over oil supplies and prices.
Monthly changes in UAE petrol prices can have a direct impact on household budgets because fuel is a regular expense for many residents. Even relatively small increases can accumulate over time, leaving motorists spending a larger share of their monthly income on transport.
Higher fuel costs can also have broader implications, potentially increasing expenses for businesses that depend heavily on transportation and logistics.
