UAE and Ukraine Presidents Meet to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Developments

The talks covered developments in regional security against the backdrop of ongoing military activity.

Abu Dhabi: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, to discuss regional security developments amid ongoing military escalation and their implications for international peace, security, navigation, and the global economy.

The meeting took place in Abu Dhabi during Zelenskyy’s working visit to the UAE. Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the Ukrainian President, highlighting that the visit reflects the strong and growing ties between the two nations.

The leaders also discussed ongoing Iranian terrorist aggression targeting the UAE and other regional countries, including attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure. Zelenskyy reaffirmed his condemnation of these actions, emphasizing that they violate sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter, while threatening regional and global peace and security.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized that the UAE is handling the situation with wisdom and restraint, demonstrating its commitment to preventing further regional tensions and crises. He stressed that the UAE will continue to defend its sovereignty against terrorist attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, affirming its readiness to confront all threats and its full right to self-defense under international law.

The leaders also explored opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the UAE and Ukraine, reaffirming their shared commitment to realizing its objectives.

Additionally, Zelenskyy emphasized the UAE’s support for all efforts and initiatives aimed at achieving lasting peace in Ukraine.

The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President; as well as several ministers and senior officials.

President Zelenskyy arrived in the UAE earlier and was welcomed at the airport by Suhail bin Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, along with other officials.
