Missile interceptions underscore UAE’s strong defence preparedness.

ABU DHABI: The UAE’s air defence systems intercepted six ballistic missiles, seven cruise missiles and 39 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran on Wednesday, 11 March 2026, officials said.

This marks another large‑scale defensive operation in an ongoing wave of aerial threats. Since the start of what authorities describe as blatant Iranian aggression, UAE air defences have reportedly intercepted 268 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,514 UAVs.

The Ministry of Defence stated that the country’s air defence readiness remains robust as it continues to protect critical infrastructure and civilian areas. The sustained interception efforts have been part of ongoing regional tensions following attacks across the Gulf.

These attacks have resulted in six deaths among Emirati, Pakistani, Nepali, and Bangladeshi nationals, along with 131 minor to moderate injuries. Those injured include residents and nationals from the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Türkiye, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, and Indonesia.

The Ministry of Defence affirmed that it is fully prepared to respond to any threats and will firmly confront attempts to undermine state security, while ensuring the protection of the UAE’s sovereignty, stability, and national interests.
