MoFA says attacks on ADNOC tankers in the Strait of Hormuz threaten regional and energy stability.

Abu Dhabi: ADNOC confirmed that two of its vessels came under attack while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday evening, August 13, according to the official news agency WAM.

No injuries were reported, and the situation has since been brought under control.

In a statement, ADNOC underscored the importance of protecting seafarers’ safety and well-being, while ensuring freedom of navigation and maritime security.

The company also urged the public to rely only on official sources for information and refrain from sharing rumors or unverified reports.

UAE condemns attack on two ADNOC vessels

The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the hostile Iranian attack targeting two ADNOC-affiliated vessels as they transited the Strait of Hormuz. No injuries were reported in the incident.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said the attack constitutes a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which reaffirms the importance of freedom of navigation and rejects attacks on commercial vessels or attempts to obstruct international maritime routes.

The Ministry stressed that targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a means of economic coercion or blackmail amounts to acts of piracy by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), posing a direct threat to regional stability, the safety of its peoples, and global energy security.
