Three recall campaigns address potential engine damage, software problems and transmission faults.

Dubai: Al Futtaim Motors has launched three recall campaigns affecting an estimated 29,774 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 vehicles in the UAE, with inspections and repairs aimed at addressing potential engine, electronic control software and automatic transmission issues.
The campaigns are being carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism and cover Land Cruiser 300 models manufactured in Japan between 2021 and 2024.
The first recall affects 6,571 vehicles from the EXR, VXR, GXR, GR Sport and Signature variants produced in 2023 and 2024, according to Emarat Al Youm.
Recall information indicates that manufacturing debris could contaminate the engine’s crankshaft bearings and potentially cause damage.
The issue could result in knocking sounds from the engine, rough operation or difficulty starting. In some cases, the defect could also cause the engine to stall while the vehicle is being driven.
If the engine stalls while the vehicle is in motion, it could lead to a loss of driving power and increase the risk of an accident.
Affected vehicles will be inspected for possible damage to the crankshaft bearings. If damage is detected, the engine will be replaced at no cost to the owner.
Engine software update
The second recall campaign affects 7,453 Land Cruiser 300 vehicles manufactured between 2021 and 2024 and relates to a potential issue with the electronic control unit of the V35A engine.
According to the recall information, the engine control software may not properly account for the impact of the cooling fan while it is operating.
Under certain driving conditions, including acceleration with the accelerator pedal fully depressed, the engine’s actual output may differ from approved specifications.
Al Futtaim Motors will update the engine control unit software on all affected vehicles free of charge.
Transmission fault could increase fire risk
The largest of the three campaigns affects 15,750 Land Cruiser 300 vehicles manufactured between 2021 and 2024 and involves the vehicle’s 10-speed automatic transmission.
A potential defect could cause excessive rotational speed when certain gears are engaged, which may damage the transmission or lead to a loss of driving power.
In some cases, the fault could also result in transmission fluid leaking, potentially increasing the risk of an accident or fire.
Affected vehicles will be inspected, and the transmission control unit will be reprogrammed at no cost to owners.
