Three hurt in Ajman fuel tanker explosion

Civil Defence team quickly rushed to the scene to control the blaze

Three Asian workers were injured after a tank truck exploded in Ajman’s old industrial area.

The incident took place on February 4 at an auto repair workshop.

The workers were carrying out welding works when flying sparks reached the tank of the lorry and caused the explosion.

Ajman Police, the national ambulance and Ajman Civil Defence teams rushed to the accident site.

“The explosion didn’t result in a fire,” said a spokesperson at Ajman Civil Defence.

“We’ve carried out the preliminary inspection of the site and handed over the report to the police department for further investigations. The injured workers were transferred to the hospital.”

The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
