Sharjah school buses will operate only 50% for safety measures

Date:

Schools not complying with the updated regulations may face fines.

School buses in Sharjah will not occupy more than 50 per cent capacity when school reopens in September, the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) has announced.

The measure is part of the SPEA’s comprehensive guidelines to reopening private schools for the next academic year.

“Schools not complying with the updated regulations will be held accountable – they may face a fine or be assigned to switch to distance learning methods,” said Ali Al Housani, director-general of the SPEA.

“The protocols had been drafted in coordination with several authorities to secure prevention and safety benefits for the school community,” he added.

Al Hosani said the instructions guarantee the health and safety of students. “These include entry procedures, hygiene, sterilisation, periodic disinfection, physical distancing, receiving and delivering books and school uniforms and the mechanism for dealing with suspected cases. It also prevents gathering and crowding in the school premises – food, transportation, rest areas, library and prayer hall, in addition to activities,” he said.

The guideline also obliges the students, teachers and all other staff to wear masks while are in the facilities.
