Sharjah issues rules to regulate electric vehicle charging stations

New rules outline requirements for public and private EV chargers, aiming to advance sustainable transportation.

SHARJAH: The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) has issued a decision regulating electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the emirate.

The move aims to organise the installation and operation of EV chargers while ensuring a structured and efficient network.

The decision also outlines provisions for advanced infrastructure, covering aspects such as connection applications and tariffs for electric vehicle supply equipment and charging services.

It also addresses key legal aspects, including scope of application, installation and operation requirements for public and private areas, safety and quality standards, penalties for violations, regulatory measures, and procedures for enforcement and publication.
