Al Dhaid became part of the UAE’s national passenger rail network on September 30, marking the opening of Sharjah’s first Etihad Rail station.

Passengers travelling to Etihad Rail’s Al Dhaid station in Sharjah now have access to three new public bus routes connecting the railway station with Al Madam, Al Sajaa and Sharjah, according to the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA).
Al Dhaid became part of the UAE’s national passenger railway network on September 30, marking the opening of Sharjah’s first Etihad Rail station and providing rail connections to Fujairah and Abu Dhabi.
The newly introduced bus services are part of SRTA’s efforts to improve integration between different public transport systems and provide commuters with more convenient travel options.

Dubai opens new Metro link to Etihad Rail station
Dubai has also introduced an additional transport connection to the Etihad Rail network with the opening of a new pedestrian bridge linking Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station and Etihad Rail’s Dubai Al Yalayis Station.
The enclosed walkway officially opened on Thursday, October 15, allowing passengers to transfer between the Dubai Metro and the national railway network without needing a separate road journey.
Travellers can reach the bridge through Exit 1 or Exit 2 at Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station.
The walkway is equipped with escalators and moving walkways, with the journey between the two stations taking approximately five to seven minutes.
An Etihad Rail shuttle bus service also remains available, giving passengers the choice of walking across the bridge or taking a bus between the stations.
Dubai Al Yalayis Station began passenger operations on September 30, connecting Dubai with the UAE’s expanding inter-emirate passenger rail network.
