Salik Updates Toll Charges in Dubai, New Rates Now Active

Date:

Here’s What’s Changing.

Dubai motorists are now paying more to use Salik after a new fee adjustment came into effect across the city.

A 5 per cent value-added tax (VAT) is now being applied to all Salik toll charges, as well as Salik tag activation fees, following changes introduced on June 1, 2026.

This means each trip through a Salik gate will now include an additional VAT component added to the standard toll fee.

According to Salik, the collected tax will be remitted to the Federal Tax Authority in line with the UAE’s applicable laws and regulations.

Frequent users of Salik gates are expected to see an increase in their monthly travel costs as a result of the new structure.

Dubai’s new Salik toll gate fees

The cost of using Dubai’s Salik system will continue to vary depending on the time of day and the day of the week, with revised rates now in effect from June 1.

Monday to Saturday Salik toll fees:

  • 6am to 10am (peak hours): Dh6 plus VAT
  • 10am to 4pm (off-peak hours): Dh4 plus VAT
  • 4pm to 8pm (peak hours): Dh6 plus VAT
  • 8pm to 1am (off-peak hours): Dh4 plus VAT
  • 1am to 6am: No tariff

Sunday toll fees:

  • 6am to 1am: Dh4 plus VAT
  • 1am to 6am: No tariff

The revised structure means motorists will now pay a 5 per cent VAT on top of standard Salik charges.

Separately, Dubai’s public parking operator Parkin PJSC has also confirmed it will apply a 5 per cent VAT to parking tariffs. This includes on- and off-street parking, seasonal cards, permits and reservations.

The company also said cash payments at parking meters will be phased out from June 1, while payment via nol card will remain available.
