PR Manager Accused of Misappropriating Dh290,000 from Company Funds.
Abu Dhabi: A public relations manager has been ordered by the Abu Dhabi Labour Court to repay over Dh290,000 to his former employer after being found to have misused company funds intended for official business transactions.
The Abu Dhabi Labour Court of First Instance ruled that the employee must return Dh290,383 after evidence showed he had diverted funds transferred to him for company matters.
According to, the company filed a lawsuit against the former employee, who worked as a public relations manager under an open-ended contract with a monthly salary of Dh17,000. In his role, he was granted an official power of attorney to manage company affairs and handle transactions with government entities and other parties.
The company stated that it had regularly transferred funds to him as entrusted money to carry out official procedures, pay fees, and cover business-related expenses. However, an internal review later revealed that the employee had allegedly misappropriated the funds and failed to return the remaining balance.
The company claimed Dh266,227 for funds it had advanced to the employee for company transactions, which were never returned, as well as Dh28,077 for mobile phones he had purchased but failed to hand over.
Judges found that the employee had violated his professional and financial duties by unlawfully retaining the funds. The court consequently ordered him to repay the full amount, in addition to covering legal costs.
