A total of 8,452 policies have been issued since January 1, 2020.
All Umrah pilgrims coming from abroad will have a comprehensive insurance coverage that will be linked to their visit visa.
Beginning January 1, 2020, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Haj and Umrah made effective the new insurance policy which will be applicable once the pilgrim arrives in the Kingdom.
General supervisor of the media center at the ministry, Ayman Arfaj, said in a statement that a total of 8,452 policies have been issued since January 1, 2020.
The move comes after the Company for Cooperative Insurance (Tawuniya) signed an agreement with the Ministry of Haj and Umrah on December 11 last year, to provide insurance services pilgrims for four years.
Under the insurance cover, Umrah pilgrims can avail insurance policy to visit government or private hospitals in the Kingdom and will have to present only passport number.
Moreover, comprehensive insurance cover can be helpful in case of flight delays or cancellations, death and in repatriating the deceased, or in accidents and disasters, reported
