Narendra Modi will begin his whirlwind tour from the United Arab Emirates.

Narendra Modi will begin his multi-nation tour this week with a visit to the United Arab Emirates, before travelling to four European countries, including Norway, where he is scheduled to attend a bilateral summit, officials said.
The tour begins on Friday in the UAE, home to a large Indian diaspora of around 4.5 million people, according to India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
Narendra Modi is expected to meet Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with energy cooperation set to be a key focus of discussions amid global supply disruptions linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The visit is expected to further strengthen the significant trade and investment ties between the two countries, according to the statement.
Narendra Modi will then travel to the Netherlands from May 15 to 17, marking his second visit to the country since 2017. The agenda is set to include discussions on defence cooperation, semiconductor collaboration, and the development of a strategic partnership on water management between the two nations.
The Ministry said that the visit, coming early in the tenure of the new government, will provide an opportunity to further deepen and expand India’s partnership with the Netherlands.
Bilateral trade between India and the Netherlands — one of India’s largest European investors — reached $27.8 billion last year.
Narendra Modi will then travel to Sweden on May 17 for a two-day visit, where he is scheduled to hold talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
During the visit, both leaders are expected to address the European Round Table for Industry, a major forum of business leaders, along with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, according to the statement.
On May 18, Narendra Modi will arrive in Norway to attend the third India-Nordic Summit. It will mark his first visit to the country and the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 43 years.
The final stop of the week-long tour will be Italy from May 19 to 20.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs said the visit comes amid strong momentum in bilateral relations, with both sides actively working to implement the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–2029.
The plan aims to strengthen bilateral trade and deepen cooperation in areas such as defence and security, as well as clean energy and technology.
Meanwhile, the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has added pressure on India’s economy. On Sunday, Narendra Modi urged India’s population of 1.4 billion people to reduce consumption of petrol and diesel in response to supply disruptions.
