Medcare has opened its second hospital in Sharjah, further expanding its tertiary and quaternary care services.

“With 90 beds, the new multidisciplinary hospital enhances tertiary care capabilities amid increasing demand.”

Sharjah: Medcare, one of the UAE’s leading providers of premium healthcare services, has announced the opening of Medcare Hospital Sharjah, a purpose-built tertiary care facility strategically located on Shaikh Saqr Al Qasimi Street in the heart of the emirate. The 90-bed multidisciplinary hospital is designed to address the evolving healthcare needs of Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, reinforcing Medcare’s commitment to delivering high-quality care.

The hospital aims to serve the region’s growing population amid demographic shifts and recent healthcare policy changes, including the rollout of mandatory health insurance, which has broadened access and led to increased hospital utilisation.

Alisha Moopen, Managing Director & Group CEO of Aster DM Healthcare, said, “Medcare Hospital Sharjah reflects our strategic response to rising clinical demand and shifting healthcare utilisation patterns across the Northern Emirates. We recognise the increasing need for enhanced tertiary care infrastructure as residents seek both routine and complex medical services locally.”

She added, “Since the launch of our first Medcare Hospital in Sharjah, we have witnessed strong and sustained growth. The continued trust and confidence of the community highlight the evolving healthcare needs of the region. As leaders in healthcare delivery, we are committed to anticipating these needs and investing proactively in infrastructure and capabilities.”

“This expansion into a second multispecialty hospital is a strategic move—far beyond simply adding beds or services. Our vision is to ensure that every resident in Sharjah and the Northern Emirates has access to world-class, patient-centred tertiary healthcare close to home,” Alisha added.

Dr. Shanila Laiju, Group CEO of Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres, said, “Medcare Hospital Sharjah has been designed to deliver clinical excellence through integrated, multidisciplinary care models that prioritise patient safety, efficiency, and continuity. By bringing advanced diagnostics, specialised disciplines, and structured care pathways under one roof, we can meet the growing demand for complex medical services locally, reducing the need for residents to travel outside the Northern Emirates for tertiary care.”

“Our expansion strategy at Medcare spans both primary and tertiary healthcare. In 2024 and early 2025, we launched 11 new Medcare Medical Centres, bringing our network to 26 facilities across Dubai and Sharjah. These community-focused centres, supported by a Dh60 million investment, are already seeing strong engagement, reflecting the growing preference for accessible, high-quality care,” Alisha said.

“The expansion is backed by a 28% year-on-year increase in footfall, highlighting a robust shift toward premium healthcare utilisation. The launch of the new Medcare Hospital Sharjah marks the third hospital in our network over the past three years. Looking ahead, we plan to expand into quaternary care services in 2026 across Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, alongside a greenfield hospital in Dubai within the next two years,” Dr. Shanila elaborated.

Medcare is also advancing medical technology and standards, integrating AI technologies in cardiology diagnostics and breast imaging, and introducing next-generation robotic surgical systems across multiple specialties by the end of 2026.

The new hospital offers a comprehensive range of services across 29 specialties, including emergency and trauma care, ICU, NICU, PICU, advanced radiology and imaging, and specialised care in women’s and children’s health. By combining integrated care pathways, evidence-based decision-making, and state-of-the-art technology—including a PET CT scanner for advanced oncological diagnostics—Medcare ensures patients receive the right care at the right time with seamless continuity.

Medcare Hospital Sharjah has been developed in line with international healthcare standards, incorporating advanced clinical governance frameworks, digital care pathways, and patient-centric design principles that enhance safety, efficiency, and care coordination across all levels of service.

The hospital’s opening marks a key milestone in Medcare’s expansion strategy, underscoring the group’s ongoing commitment to delivering premium, integrated healthcare services across the UAE and supporting healthier, more resilient communities in Sharjah and the Northern Emirates.
