Have you ever been mid-sip of water just as the Fajr adhan begins, wondering if your fast for Ramadan is still valid? Or perhaps worried about how to properly make up for missed prayers after arriving late to Taraweeh?
During Ramadan, daily routines shift dramatically, bringing a host of questions. Many faithful turn to religious consultations to ensure they observe the holy month correctly and fully in accordance with Islamic teachings.
To address these needs, the UAE Council for Fatwa has recently specified times during Ramadan when Muslims can request fatwas, emphasizing that the service is available throughout the week.
From Saturday to Thursday, UAE residents can submit their Shariah- and fatwa-related inquiries between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. On Fridays, the service is available in two sessions: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The UAE Council of Fatwa emphasized that all consultations are provided according to a rigorous scholarly methodology and a balanced, moderate juristic approach.
How to Seek a Fatwa
During Ramadan, residents can submit religious inquiries through four channels:
- SMS fatwas: 2535
- Official website: fatwauae.gov.ae
- WhatsApp fatwas: 8002422
- Phone consultation: 8002422
Inquiries on Zakat
For Zakat-related questions, residents can contact the General Authority of Islamic Affairs & Endowments & Zakat call centre at 8008222:
- Monday to Thursday: 2 p.m. – 8 p.m.
- Friday: 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Zakat is a mandatory charitable contribution of 2.5% of a Muslim’s qualifying annual wealth and savings held for a full lunar year. It applies to savings, gold, silver, investment income, and business assets.
In February, the UAE launched the National Zakat Platform, a landmark initiative to regulate collection and distribution, enhance transparency, and ensure funds reach eligible beneficiaries through a structured, data-driven system.
