An Indian worker was killed after Iranian strikes targeted a power and water desalination facility in Kuwait, authorities confirmed on Sunday.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity reported that a service building at one of its power stations and water desalination plants was damaged during the attack, according to the official news agency.

The Kuwait News Agency quoted the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy describing the incident as a “brutal attack” that damaged the service building.

Ministry spokesperson Fatima Jawhar Hayat confirmed that the strike resulted in the death of an Indian national working at the facility.

Technical and emergency response teams were promptly dispatched to the site to contain the situation and manage the aftermath, following the ministry’s approved emergency plan, Hayat added.

Emergency teams respond
Hayat said specialised teams are securing the damaged facilities while coordinating closely with security authorities and other relevant agencies.

Despite the attack, the ministry emphasized that the electricity and water networks continue to operate efficiently.

Officials urged residents to rely solely on verified information and avoid spreading rumours amid the ongoing situation.

Hayat highlighted that safeguarding the stability and safety of Kuwait’s electricity and water systems is a top priority, with technical teams working around the clock to manage potential emergencies and ensure uninterrupted delivery of essential services.
