AWS data centre training rack added to curriculum to give students practical cloud technology skills.
Khalifa University students will gain hands-on experience in operating data centre infrastructure through a new agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS), as demand for technology skills continues to rise across the UAE.
The programme will be incorporated into the university’s curriculum, giving students practical training using a data centre training rack provided by AWS.
Students will also study the AWS Academy Data Center Engineering Operations curriculum, which will be delivered by Khalifa University faculty members.
The programme aims to prepare students for careers in data centre engineering and operations by combining academic learning with practical, hands-on experience.
Work experience opportunity
High-performing students shortlisted by Khalifa University will also be eligible to apply for work experience opportunities with AWS in the UAE through a dedicated application process.
Any placements will be subject to AWS’s standard recruitment procedures and business requirements.
Professor Ebrahim Al Hajri, President of Khalifa University, said building a highly skilled workforce is becoming increasingly important as the UAE continues to expand its data centre and artificial intelligence sectors.

Who can take part?
The programme will initially be led by Khalifa University’s Computer and Information Engineering Department before being expanded to students studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Students will study Data Center Engineering Operations through a mix of classroom instruction and hands-on training using equipment provided by AWS.
Khalifa University said the partnership is designed to equip graduates with practical skills relevant to the UAE’s expanding digital infrastructure sector, which supports cloud computing, artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies.
