Indian father in Sharjah wins Big Ticket gold bar, dedicates prize to son with special needs

Mumbai expat purchases Big Ticket entry in his son’s name, credits him as his lucky charm.

Dubai: An Indian father living in Sharjah is celebrating a memorable Big Ticket victory after an entry purchased in his son’s name won a 200-gram, 24-karat gold bar in October’s first weekly electronic draw.

Mohamed Yahya Tanwar, a person of determination originally from Mumbai, India, was among four winners from India and the Philippines who each secured a gold bar in the draw.

Mohamed’s father shared the family’s winning experience in a statement on his son’s behalf, explaining that he had bought the ticket himself but registered it under Mohamed’s name.

‘My son has always been my lucky charm’

The 56-year-old businessman has spent the past four decades in the UAE and currently lives in Sharjah with his family.

He manages a family business established by his father and has been participating in Big Ticket draws occasionally over the past year.

After learning about Big Ticket through social media and news coverage, he decided to try his luck by purchasing entries from time to time.

For the winning draw, he chose to register the ticket in Mohamed’s name, allowing his son to select the number himself.

“My son has been my lucky charm since the day he was born. I’ve always believed that he brings good fortune into my life and my business, which is why I decided to purchase the ticket under his name,” the father said.

Winning phone call initially mistaken for a scam

The family received an unexpected surprise when Big Ticket representatives attempted to contact them with news of the win.

However, Mohamed’s father initially suspected the call could be fraudulent and chose not to answer.

It was only after he checked the official results online that he realised the ticket registered in his son’s name had secured a gold bar.

The discovery brought excitement and happiness to the family, transforming what he had first dismissed as a suspicious phone call into an occasion for celebration.

‘The prize belongs to my son’

Mohamed’s father said the gold bar prize would be used entirely to support his son’s needs, emphasising that the winning ticket was registered in Mohamed’s name and that the reward rightfully belonged to him.

“This is Mohamed’s ticket, so the prize money belongs to him. I want to use it for whatever he needs,” his father said.

The unexpected victory has also inspired him to continue taking part in Big Ticket draws, with the hope of one day winning the grand prize.

“If we’ve been lucky enough to win once, hopefully we can win again. I’ll definitely keep trying my luck and aim for the grand prize,” he added.

Two more Big Ticket weekly draws scheduled for October

Big Ticket has two weekly electronic draws remaining in October, offering participants additional opportunities to win gold prizes.

Each draw will award four winners a 200-gram, 24-karat gold bar, with a total of eight gold bars still available across the remaining draws.

The draws will be broadcast live at 7.30pm on Big Ticket’s official YouTube channel and website, allowing participants to watch the results as they are announced.
