The Dubai Media Office has urged residents and visitors to ignore rumors and rely on verified information amid a surge of false news online.

In its latest advisory, the office confirmed that Dubai is functioning normally and cautioned the public against being misled by misinformation.

False claims debunked
A video released by the Dubai Media Office addressed circulating rumors and false reports, emphasizing the importance of focusing on verified facts.

Authorities clarified that Dubai continues to operate as usual, dismissing claims of mass evacuations, airport closures, empty supermarket shelves, frozen bank accounts, a collapsing property market, or the relocation of foreign investors and hedge funds.

Dubai Operating Normally

Officials have emphasized the importance of staying informed and verifying information before sharing, stressing that relying on official sources is essential for public safety and confidence.

Dubai continues to function normally, with all services—including airports, banks, and markets—operating as usual.

Authorities have urged residents to remain calm, stay informed, and remain vigilant, reminding the public that sharing unverified content can spread confusion and fear and may violate UAE law.

Rely on Official Sources

The Dubai Media Office stressed that relying solely on official channels is the safest way to ensure community safety, stability, and well-being. Authorities noted that many misleading posts use old footage, AI, or deepfake technologies to fabricate events in the UAE.

Despite repeated warnings, some individuals continue to record locations and share unverified content on social media. Using such material to incite panic is a criminal offense under UAE law, carrying penalties of one to two years in prison and fines ranging from Dh100,000 to Dh200,000, depending on the severity of the impact.

Verification Is a Shared Responsibility

Authorities urged the public to:

  • Verify the date, context, and source of news, images, and videos.
  • Avoid reposting content from unreliable sources.
  • Follow official announcements to support public safety.

Dubai authorities confirmed that since the start of the current situation, all operations have been managed with professionalism, preparedness, and strong coordination among relevant entities.

Officials concluded that in today’s fast-paced information environment, maintaining societal stability is a shared responsibility, requiring every individual to verify information before sharing, not just the authorities.
