Huge tailbacks on Abu Dhabi roads as coronavirus travel ban comes into effect

Date:

Several roads leading to Abu Dhabi experienced huge tail backs on Tuesday morning as the capital’s week-long ban came into effect from today (June 2).

The capital has suspended inter-emirate travel to conduct mass covid 19 coronavirus testing.

Sheikh Zayed Road around Jebel Ali Salik toll gate was chock-a-block as   hundreds of cars got stuck in a morning rush hour traffic in the direction of Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi Police has setup 12 checkpoints at various entrances of the emirate. Motorists and residents will need a movement permit to travel around for essential purpose only.

The police announced on Monday that there is a ban on movement in and out of Abu Dhabi as well as between the emirate’s regions of Capital city, Al Ain and Al Dhafra.

The police have urged residents to comply with the travel restrictions.
