Riyadh: Authorities ordered the closure of schools on Wednesday in some parts of Saudi Arabia due to rainy weather, Saudi media reported.

Several areas in the kingdom, including the south-western region of Jazan, drenched Tuesday in heavy rains, resulting in blocking roads and isolating villages.

Acting Governor of Jazan Prince Mohammad Bin Abdul Aziz instructed suspension of classes at all the region’s schools including those in the province of Sabia, on Wednesday due to poor weather, Saudi news agency SPA reported.

The decision was taken to protect public safety, a statement said.

Likewise, schools in villages located in the southern part of the holy city of Makkah in western Saudi Arabia decided to close down on Wednesday due to heavy rain,

Saudi General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection has forecast that at least six areas in the kingdom, including Jazan, Najran and parts of Makkah will continue to experience Wednesday thunder rains and low visibility.
