Gulf Air expands South Asia routes through Dammam amid airspace closures

Date:

Airline expands temporary network with new routes and transit assistance for passengers.

Dubai: Gulf Air has expanded its temporary operations via Dammam, adding more South Asian routes to provide greater travel options for passengers affected by ongoing airspace restrictions in Bahrain and other parts of the region.

The airline is currently operating from King Fahd International Airport, having shifted flights from Bahrain due to ongoing airspace closures that have compelled carriers to adjust schedules and routing strategies.

New destinations added

The latest expansion includes Lahore, Islamabad, Kochi, and Dhaka, enhancing Gulf Air’s connectivity across key South Asian routes with strong passenger demand from the Gulf.

These additions complement an already expanded network from Dammam, which links travellers to major global cities such as London, Mumbai, Nairobi, Cairo, Chennai, Bangkok, Casablanca, Manila, Paris, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Athens, and Thiruvananthapuram.

The expanded network reflects a swift operational adjustment, with Dammam serving as a temporary hub for passengers originally traveling through Bahrain.

Ground transport and transit support

Passengers booked on these flights will be provided with ground transport between Bahrain and King Fahd International Airport, ensuring they can continue their journeys despite the disruption.

Gulf Air is also offering transit visa support for passengers traveling through Saudi Arabia under this arrangement. The service is available to those using the airline’s organised transfers between Bahrain and Dammam.

Travellers whose final destination is Saudi Arabia must still secure their visas independently.

Bookings and next steps
Flights across the expanded network can be booked via Gulf Air’s website, mobile app, or authorised travel agents.

The airline continues to adjust its network in response to regional developments, adding capacity to ease congestion and maintain connectivity for affected passengers.
