The opening will introduce one of Abu Dhabi’s most significant new cultural landmarks, showcasing an extensive collection of modern and contemporary art from the 1960s to the present day.
Tickets for Guggenheim Abu Dhabi are now on sale, allowing visitors to secure their entry ahead of the museum’s highly anticipated opening on December 11 at Saadiyat Island.
General admission is priced at Dh70. Entry will be free for visitors under 18, UAE students, and people aged 60 and above, while discounted tickets will be offered to other eligible groups.
The opening will add a major new cultural destination to Abu Dhabi, with the museum showcasing modern and contemporary artworks dating from the 1960s through to the present day.
Designed by the late Pritzker Prize-winning architect Frank Gehry, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi features 28 indoor galleries arranged around a central atrium, alongside 10 striking sculptural cones. The museum also offers 23,000 square metres of outdoor exhibition space spread across its terraces and cone structures.
Spanning 11,600 square metres, the museum will showcase a diverse range of works, including paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, moving images and new media.
Instead of organising its collection solely by chronology or geography, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will focus on the connections, exchanges and artistic influences that have developed across cultures and regions.
The museum is being developed as a joint initiative between the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation.
