Dubai Unveils Dh1 Billion Package to Safeguard Jobs
The Government of Dubai has approved a comprehensive Dh1 billion package of measures aimed at protecting jobs across the emirate.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, sanctioned a series of initiatives and strategies to support the workforce.
The economic incentives, valued at Dh1 billion, will be implemented over a three- to six-month period starting April 1, 2026, targeting both businesses and society at large. The initiative is designed to ease financial pressures on companies and individuals amid challenging regional conditions.
Support for Hotels and Tourism
The hospitality sector will benefit from deferred government fees for three months, including 100 percent postponement of sales fees and the Tourism Dirham, aimed at enhancing liquidity in hotels and tourism operations.
Easier Residency Permit Renewals and Extended Support
As part of the Dh1 billion initiative, customs data grace periods will be extended from 30 to 90 days, with the possibility of further extensions. The program will also streamline the issuance and renewal of residency permits, making it easier for talent to live and work in Dubai.
In a post on X, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said:
“Our message is clear: Dubai remains committed to supporting individuals, families, and businesses with confidence and stability. With strong institutions and deep community ties, the emirate continues to grow, turning challenges into opportunities and emerging stronger than ever.”
Empowerment and Worker Support
The Dubai Empowerment Strategy was approved by the Executive Council to create thousands of job opportunities, raise living standards, strengthen financial stability, and promote sustainable employment among Emirati families.
Separately, the Health and Safety Strategy for Workers’ Accommodations was also approved. By 2033, the strategy aims for 100 percent access to essential services for workers and full compliance of worker accommodations, improving living and working conditions across the emirate.
