The exhibition will present art spanning centuries, from antiquity to contemporary works.
The inaugural Frieze Abu Dhabi will be held from November 19 to 22 at Manarat Al Saadiyat, featuring 84 galleries representing 63 cities across 36 countries. The event is expected to further cement Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a leading global hub for art and culture.
Organised in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), Frieze Abu Dhabi builds on the legacy of Abu Dhabi Art, which has spent 17 years fostering connections among artists, galleries, collectors and cultural institutions across the region.
Frieze Abu Dhabi will showcase artworks spanning antiquity, the 20th century and the contemporary era, bringing together prominent regional and international galleries. Participants include Gagosian, Pace Gallery, Thaddaeus Ropac and Timothy Taylor, alongside leading galleries from the UAE and the wider region.
The fair will comprise four main sections: Galleries, the flagship section; Focus, spotlighting emerging international galleries; Frieze Masters Abu Dhabi, examining cultural exchange across the Indian Ocean; and Global Futures, presenting solo exhibitions by artists from different generations and regions.
The wider programme will also introduce the Frieze Abu Dhabi Artist Award, Frieze Sculpture and In Dialogue, complemented by a series of curated talks covering art collecting, the institutional landscape and contemporary artistic practices.
The fair will further contribute to the expanding cultural landscape of Saadiyat Cultural District, home to renowned institutions such as Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, which is set to open in December.
