Four infected Pakistani students recovered from coronavirus in China

Dubai: Four Pakistani students who were reported to have infected with coronavirus have completely recovered, claims a top official in the country.

Dr Zafar Mirza, Special Assistant to the Pakistan Prime Minister on Health on Wednesday confirmed that four Pakistani students that had developed coronavirus disease in China were fully recovered now. After recovery from the disease, they had been discharged from the hospital in China, Dr Zafar Murza said in a statement.

He also confirmed that 98 per cent of suspected cases of coronavirus in Pakistan has also fully recovered. “Some people were under observation for the virus across Pakistan. But all of their tests came negative,” he added. He said the government had reviewed the situation in the provinces and closely working with them to provide all assistance.

Dr Zafar Mirza said medical experts’ teams were present at the airports to receive and observe the passengers from China and not a single suspected case was found out yet.

First quarantine centre in Isalamabad

Meanwhile, Pakistan has set up its first quarantine centre at the Islamabad International Airport to effectively screen the passengers arriving from China or elsewhere.

Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfikar Bukhari said Wednesday: “The facility can handle around 300 people at a time.”

The epidemic has killed some 1,355 and infected more than 60,000 mainly in China, according to reports on Wednesday morning.
