For the first time, Saudi students receive digital ID cards featuring QR codes.

Date:

Parents can now monitor their children’s schoolwork and communicate with teachers without having to visit the school.

Dubai: Students across Saudi Arabia will return to public schools tomorrow (Sunday, August 23), with a new suite of digital services allowing students, parents and teachers to track schoolwork and communicate without needing to visit schools in person.

The Ministry of Education has rolled out the services through its Unified Education Portal, bringing academic assignments, communication tools and various administrative services together on a single digital platform.

Students and parents will be able to access homework, periodic tests and other assignments online, giving families a clearer view of students’ academic progress throughout the school year. A built-in messaging feature will also enable parents to communicate directly with teachers and school administrators, reducing the need for in-person visits for routine questions and follow-ups.

Digital ID for students

Students will also receive an official digital ID card containing essential personal and academic details, including their name, nationality, identification number, school and grade.

The digital ID also features a QR code that allows authorised entities to verify the student’s information, providing an electronic form of identification when needed.

The initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s wider expansion of digital education services as the Kingdom prepares for the new academic year.

The portal also offers a range of other services, including school bus registration, student transfers between schools, guardian registration and procedures for newly enrolled students.

The system is designed to give students, parents and teachers a more convenient way to manage academic and administrative matters while improving communication between families and schools.
