Dubai: Passengers travelling from the UAE to Bahrain and Kuwait continue to face a mix of flight cancellations and limited service resumptions as airlines assess the security situation following months of disruption caused by the US-Iran war.
While some UAE carriers have cancelled services or have yet to confirm when flights will resume, flydubai continues to operate a limited number of flights to both destinations, while Qatar Airways and several regional carriers have also resumed services.
Kuwait has been among the countries hardest hit by the conflict, facing Iranian drone and missile strikes since the war began in late February. The collapse of the June peace accord in mid-July triggered another wave of direct strikes on Bahrain and Kuwait, disrupting regional air travel and leading to widespread cancellations and airspace restrictions.
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has extended its urgent conflict-zone advisory, warning airlines to avoid Bahraini and Kuwaiti airspace until August 31.
Major Western carriers, including British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM and Air France, have delayed the resumption of their regional services.
UAE airlines: Which flights are operating?
Etihad Airways: Bahrain and Kuwait flights cancelled
Etihad Airways has cancelled flights between Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport and Bahrain International Airport due to operational reasons.
The airline has also cancelled flights EY653 and EY654 between Abu Dhabi and Kuwait International Airport for operational reasons.
Flights can be booked on Etihad’s website for travel after August 11, although the airline has yet to confirm whether disruptions affecting Abu Dhabi services to Kuwait and Bahrain will continue. Gulf News has contacted the airline for clarification.
Emirates: Flight status yet to be confirmed
For flights from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Kuwait International Airport (KWI) on Tuesday, August 11, Emirates currently lists the flight status as unavailable.
The airline says updates will be provided 24 hours before departure and that no flight status information is currently available.
The same applies to Emirates flights between Dubai and Bahrain.
flydubai: Limited services operating
flydubai is among the UAE carriers continuing to operate a limited number of services to Kuwait and Bahrain.
For Kuwait, flights FZ059 and FZ063 are scheduled to operate today and tomorrow.
For Bahrain, flights FZ029, FZ023 and FZ021 are scheduled to operate today and tomorrow.
Passengers are advised to check their individual flight status before travelling, as schedules remain subject to operational changes.
Air Arabia: Kuwait flights cancelled
Air Arabia has cancelled flights G9068 and G9124 from Sharjah to Kuwait.
The airline has also cancelled flight G9107 between Sharjah and Bahrain on August 10 and 11.
Regional airlines: Which carriers are flying?
While some UAE services remain disrupted, several regional carriers continue to operate flights to Bahrain and Kuwait.
Qatar Airways resumes Bahrain and Kuwait flights
Qatar Airways resumed passenger services from Doha to Bahrain and Kuwait on August 8.
The resumptions restore direct regional connectivity from Hamad International Airport to both Gulf markets.
Saudia operating flights to Kuwait and Bahrain
Saudi carrier Saudia is operating several services to both destinations.
Flights listed as operating as scheduled include:
- Riyadh to Kuwait: SV6576
- Jeddah to Kuwait: SV6588
- Jeddah to Bahrain: SV6505
- Riyadh to Bahrain: SV6527
Oman carriers operating to Kuwait and Bahrain
SalamAir is operating services from Muscat to Kuwait.
Oman Air is also operating flights from Muscat to Kuwait, while its Muscat-Bahrain services are operating as scheduled.
Bahrain’s national carrier, Gulf Air, is also operating services, while Kuwait-based carriers Al Jazeera Airways and Kuwait Airways continue to operate flights to the UAE.
What does this mean for UAE passengers?
The latest schedules indicate there is no uniform regional restart for flights to Bahrain and Kuwait. Instead, airlines are taking different approaches based on their operational capabilities and security assessments.
For UAE passengers, flydubai currently has scheduled services to both Kuwait and Bahrain, while Air Arabia and Etihad have cancelled some flights on these routes. Emirates has yet to provide flight-status information for its August 11 services to either destination.
Passengers are advised to check directly with their airline before travelling to the airport, as schedules can change at short notice amid the ongoing conflict and airspace restrictions.
