No radiation release or injuries were reported following the generator fire at Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant.

Abu Dhabi: Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation said it is continuing to closely monitor the fire incident involving an electrical generator located outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, which was caused by a drone strike.
FANR confirmed that the incident did not affect the plant’s safety or the operational readiness of its essential systems.
No radioactive material was released following the incident at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, with radiological safety levels remaining within normal ranges and no risk posed to the public or the environment. No injuries have been reported.
Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation said it is maintaining close coordination with the operator of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant and relevant national authorities to verify all aspects of the incident and ensure the continued integrity and readiness of the plant’s systems.
As part of its independent regulatory oversight, FANR is assessing the incident in line with established national procedures while continuing to monitor radiological conditions and the operational status of the plant.
The Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant was designed, licensed and is operated in accordance with the highest international standards of nuclear safety and security. Multiple independent layers of protection are integrated into every aspect of the plant’s design and operations to ensure the safe and secure generation of clean electricity under a wide range of conditions.
Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation said the protection of the public, workers and the environment remains its highest priority, adding that it will continue to provide rigorous and independent regulatory oversight to ensure the plant’s continued safe and secure operation.
FANR also urged the public to rely on official sources for accurate information and to avoid sharing rumours or unverified reports, noting that further updates will be issued as more verified information becomes available.
