Fakeeh University Hospital has received Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) accreditation, officially recognised by the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on behalf of the World Health Organization and UNICEF.
The accreditation is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading standards in maternal and newborn healthcare, reflecting the hospital’s commitment to safe, high-quality, family-centred maternity services. It also supports breastfeeding-friendly care and strengthens maternal and child wellbeing through structured healthcare programmes, education, and continuous patient support.
The recognition follows implementation of internationally approved practices under the “Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding” framework developed by the World Health Organization and UNICEF, which promotes breastfeeding, supports maternal education, and ensures consistent care throughout the maternity journey.
The achievement reflects extensive collaboration across multiple departments at Fakeeh University Hospital, where physicians, nursing and midwifery teams, lactation consultants, clinical support services, and operational staff work together to ensure every mother and newborn receives safe, personalised, and compassionate care from the very start of their healthcare journey.
