Etihad Rail ticket prices: 50% discount for children and refund available on cancellations

Date:

Standard fares apply to adults aged between 18 and 59, with tickets currently being offered at a 50 per cent launch discount.

As the UAE’s first passenger train was flagged off earlier this week amid much fanfare, residents have shown strong interest in travelling on Etihad Rail.

With over 10,000 tickets sold ahead of launch, Etihad Rail has clarified its ticket pricing policy in a passenger charter on its website. According to the charter, children and senior passengers are eligible for discounted fares.

Standard fares apply to adults aged between 18 and 59, with tickets currently available at a 50 per cent launch discount. A search by found Comfort Class seats priced from Dh55 and Premium Class tickets from Dh120.

For children under 17, a 50 per cent discount applies on the standard ticket price. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult when travelling.

Infants under two years of age can travel free of charge if seated on an accompanying adult’s lap. However, if a separate seat is required, a child ticket must be purchased.

Passengers aged above 60 are also eligible for discounted fares, paying 20 per cent less than the standard ticket price. Officials may request valid ID to verify age.

Ticket cancellation and refund policy

The passenger charter also outlines procedures for ticket cancellation and refunds.

Passengers can cancel tickets via the Etihad Rail app or official website under “My Bookings,” by calling the contact centre, or through ticket vending machines at stations.

Refund rules vary by ticket class:

  • Saver: Non-refundable
  • Value: Non-refundable
  • Flex: Full refund for cancellations made more than 24 hours before departure. Cancellations within 24 hours incur a 30 per cent fee, and no refund is issued for no-shows.

Ticket changes

Passengers can modify tickets via the app, website, vending machines or contact centre. However, route changes (origin or destination) are not permitted for any fare type.

Change rules by ticket class:

  • Saver: No changes allowed
  • Value: Unlimited free date/time changes up to 72 hours before departure (fare difference may apply). Further changes incur a Dh20 fee plus fare difference
  • Flex: Unlimited changes allowed up to departure time and up to 30 minutes after, subject to fare difference

Once a change is confirmed, a new ticket is issued and the original ticket becomes invalid.
